Itinerary 8 Days
Day 1Arrival at Manebhanjan
Reach Manebhanjan, collect permits, meet your trek leader and settle into your accommodation. Spend the evening preparing for the trek and exploring the local market before an early night.
Day 2Manebhanjan to Tumling
Begin the trek with a steady climb through Singalila National Park. Pass forest trails and open viewpoints before reaching the village of Tumling, where you'll stay for the night.
Day 3Tumling to Kalapokhri
Walk through Gairibas and dense bamboo forests before reaching Kalapokhri, a peaceful village known for its sacred black lake. Spend the evening enjoying mountain views.
Day 4Kalapokhri to Sandakphu
Today's climb leads to the highest point in West Bengal. Once at Sandakphu, spend time enjoying views of Kanchenjunga, Everest, Makalu and Lhotse before watching the sunset over the mountains.
Day 5Sandakphu to Phalut
Leave Sandakphu after breakfast and continue along the Singalila Ridge towards Phalut. This section is quieter than the earlier trail and offers long stretches of open ridgelines with uninterrupted views of the Himalayan peaks. The gradual terrain makes it easier to enjoy the scenery, and on clear days you'll have some of the best mountain views of the entire trek. Reach Phalut by evening and settle into the trekkers' hut or campsite for the night.
Day 6Phalut to Gorkhey
Today's trail descends through forests filled with rhododendron, pine and magnolia trees. As you lose altitude, the landscape becomes greener and the weather feels milder. By afternoon you'll reach the peaceful village of Gorkhey, where traditional wooden homes and a nearby stream create a relaxing stop after several days in the mountains.
Day 7Gorkhey to Srikhola
The final trekking day follows forest trails and gentle downhill paths towards Srikhola. The route passes through quiet woodland before reaching the riverside village. Spend the evening relaxing beside the river and enjoy your last night in the mountains.
Day 8Srikhola to Darjeeling
After breakfast, leave Srikhola and travel back towards Darjeeling. As the mountains slowly disappear behind you, the return journey marks the end of a memorable trek through the Eastern Himalayas.
